The Beautiful Blonde

  1. Martin this is such a beautiful poem. And without even seeming to try it tells me everything about you and your gift. I once brought my parents to see a play of yours. My dad who loved Shakespeare and Tennyson and other poets from the past was unimpressed. It hurt me that he couldn’t see what I saw in your work, to which I had contributed by helping with the lighting. I have long forgiven my dad with whom I had a complicated relationship. Time helps everything good to come to birth. But your poem confirms what I have always known. God bless you Martin. I need never question why you are my friend. Three of my poems are being published in a literary magazine called Pennine Platform this month. It’s a first for me in a British publication and only my third in a mag of repute. I will send you a copy when I have it. But you saw what I was doing when only a few others did, and you helped me onto the stage. Thanks are due. You are a good friend. I hope you go from strength to strength. By your struggling pieces to poems of this calibre, your gift to us all is confirmed.

    1. John thank you so very much, this poem BTW was written about a time i was just starting to live in the Odyssey Théâtre, and probably just starting to get to know you! Do please let me know when you get your hands on that mag! As for helping you onto the stage as it were, i am grateful that life gave me the opportunity to pay you back for your years of faith in my writing. It was a good time to be creative wasnt it and its STILL a good time to be a writer, a blessing in disguise that my ill health has opened up that door of that house in that road once again
