A lot of the recent stuff skews slightly ‘sad’ so here is something more positive

There is this old radio
That only picks up static
Cannot find the right wavelength
Now it stutters and splurts and coughs sad
Once, some time ago I found a tune on it
Carefree and pretty and full of joy
We may have danced to it
Once or even twice
Then fell down laughing
Silly and wise and full of hope.
You now have a fancy machine,
Dull and shiny at the same time
And you dance to forgetful melodies
Encased in cardboard charm
Strange thing is I no longer care
About that old song
And cannot do the moves that came so easily before
I have fallen for the static
Seduced in stages
I can sing a lyric that no one else can hear
And I see someone dancing in a room across the way
Every step in time
To a new understanding
The wavelength of acceptance
And of knowledge
And of peace
And in another room
I watch them dance to their frantic nowhere taking in
A crowd of people
A line dance of the senses
Flailing away in search of connections
Mistaking clutter for calm
And I will waltz to static
And I will fall for static
Little by little
Until
It’s the only sound around.
