You were born windswept
Standing in the sea
Up to your knees
The sky was nervous
Dark excited
You slide down
Kneeling
Facing up
The world shape-shift shivers
Sharp contrast
Film Noir monochrome
( Suggestive of danger or violence )
We are all born innocent
You were born singular
Naive when I met you
(Me dancing to tunes only I heard)
I watched you
Even then
Engaged in skirmishes
Between the Pragmatic and the Dream
You leaned against the signpost
For the rigid road ahead
Shielding your eyes from incoming traffic
And the boys who were men, who were boys
All grown up, never growing
You were born within a delicate silence
Wrapped up in fury
And tied up in hope
You ran so fast and
Stumbled beautifully
Connected then rejected then connected again
Inspirational, slyly insatiable
You bought your own rope
Invented your own knots
Evenings spent
Breaking free
Of homemade constrictions
You were born twisted and tangled and reaching for peace
That this might reach you
As you endlessly travel
Seems apt, lovable and corrosive
Speeding through contradictions and epiphanies
The free-fall seems endless
And sometimes I catch you
pull you up
Or down
Depending on the emotional weather
Enter and exit and juggle these stories
And keep on
